 I need to cancel my wedding

     March 16th 2020 was the coldest darkest day for many but that day was truly dark for Caitlin who called the studio in a panic “I need to cancel my wedding”. She was the first of many brides that would call and need to reschedule their wedding. The fearful voice on the other side of the line broke my heart. She needed to reschedule and her photographer was unavailable for her new date. 

     It’s only a pandemic

     It seems like it’s not a big deal but to the bride that heard her dream wedding was being shut down indefinitely due to a pandemic well at that moment it was. I did my best to calm her but little did she know I too was fearful and panicking. My entire life and income revolved around shooting weddings and who knew if there was any hope of actually shooting one that year. I welcomed her phone call at the beginning of lockdown. Not only was she refocusing me from the news, she gave me the hope. No matter what, brides and grooms would once again celebrate with their families and friends with hugs and kisses. 

     The not so small gathering wedding

     On April 10th 2020 Caitlin and Bryan decided to have a small social distance wedding just the two of them and the JP (my good friend Mike Eagan of Heavenly Weddings). Immediate family would watch on from indoors while they said their i do’s on the back lawn. That’s when it happened…car after car began to drive by honking horns to show support. Soon the entire street was filled with family friends and even strangers to watch what was the first nationally news televised drive by socially distanced wedding.

     The Big Day Gurney’s Newport Resort & Marina wedding

     April 22, 2222 Caitlin and Bryan’s seaside wedding at Gurney’s Newport Resort & Marina becomes a dream come true. The ever so patient Caitlin and Bryan were able to celebrate in the true fashion that Cailin had dreamed of almost 2 yrs later. Mother nature provided the perfect sunny warm weather she even stopped the wind for their formal pictures. The family all gathered once again on the lawn of Gurney’s Newport Resort & Marina, but this time hugging and kissing so joyful to be present and celebrate with the couple, their adorable son Jace as well as Best Dog Calvin.
