As any big event approaches a lot of considerations can pass through your head. “What do I wear?” “Will this be right for the weather?” “I wonder if these shoes are going to hurt after dancing for hours?” . . . However “Are these the right socks ?!” Didn’t really used to be one of the top 10. However, in recent years a trend has emerged and grown with amusing speed and importance . . . “What socks should we all wear?”
I’ve had the good luck to work with many groups of grooms and groomsmen in the last few years and a fun and amusing trend has shown up. Fun socks. One of the top questions we get now being photographers on the big day is “Can you take pictures of our socks?” and the answer of course, SURE! And we’ve seen it all! From socks, tailored to match the theme of the wedding, to socks embroidered with custom names or nicknames (my favorite being “if this groom is found please return to the bride”), to the wildest and craziest pattern or color to be found. Crazy socks have become a theme among the grooms and their friends and family.
I think personally that my best memory of fun socks would have to be the party where the groom decided which of his friends and family related to which Star Wars character. He was, of course Luke, and that meant that his father had to have Darth Vader. The groomsman with the big crazy beard was Chewie and the tall thin friend with round glasses was C3PO. The father of the bride was Boba Fett and when I asked why . . . The groom wouldn’t say 🙂
So all in all when it comes to the trend of fun socks for your wedding the sky is the limit. Or more correctly the extent of your imagination is the limit. Have fun with it. Personally, I wear Muppet socks 😉
